Akaroa Horse Riding is about one and a half hours drive from Christchurch, and has its base at the Purple Peak Retreat at the end of Brocherie's Road.
About one kilometer before you down the last incline to Akaroa turn a very sharp left and go up Long Bay Road to take you right to the top of the divide to a cross road known as the "Cab Stand". Follow the "Akaroa Horse Treks" sign to your right from the "Cab Stand" and turn into the gravel Brocherie's Road. Purple Peak Retreat and Akaroa Horse Riding are some five minutes drive along Brocheries road. Drive slowly and take care as there are blind corners, steep spots and riders with their horses on parts of the road.
