Akaroa Horse Riding is operated by Kate Tapley, a leading practitioner of Natural Horsemanship and Horse Trekking. We teach and apply the principles of natural horsemanship using the horse's own language.
Our qualified guides offer riding all through the day including twilight. We have a range of trails with superb 360 degree views. Each trek may have up to eight riders participating. Rides have a minimum ratio of one guide to four riders.
Riding Sessions include registration, gearing up, a short video, partnering up session with your horse and trekking. The sessions are two or three hours to all day.

Our guides will match you with a horse that suits your build and
riding experience then enhance your connection with your horse,
during a partnering-up session at the beginning of your ride.
Treks are suitable for adults, young people and children
with all levels of experience. The horses are all
naturally trained, and kind.
We mostly ride in natural rope halters. No bits. This promotes communication with your horse rather than force
